Eraser Portable is a secure file-deletion and data wiping utility. With support for multiple wipes, pattern writing and more, it can be used to securely delete any sensitive data. Just right click on files or directories and select 'Send to / Free File Wiper' to erase them completely! You can drag & drop them on the trashcan to perform the wipe operation. Files are overwritten with standard and random patterns (up to 7 overwrites). To ensure maximum privacy also the filename is wiped before deletion. App Notes
Flash Drive Note: Nearly all modern flash drives use wear leveling to spread write operations out over a device. This interferes with Eraser (and other secure deletion utilities) ability to wipe single files. Wiping an entire drive or erasing a file and then wiping free space may be a little more secure but still not delete all data, though it will put additional wear on your drive.
Version Note: There is a newer version of Eraser, Eraser 6.x, which is a complete rewrite of the tool. It relies on the .NET framework 4.0+. We'll be releasing a version of this tool in the future as a separate app as it will not work on as many PCs as standard Eraser 5.x.
Updater Icon/Interface: The icon, toolbar, and interface of Eraser has been modernized for Eraser Portable by the PortableApps.com team.
